The Bach Choir of Bethlehem to present timeless Bach-inspired concert

Posted

The Bach Choir of Bethlehem Spring Concert: “Bach Inspired,” delves into the timeless brilliance of Bach’s festive “cantata 80,” which was first heard in the U.S. in Bethlehem at Central Moravian Church in 1823.

In a juxtaposition, The Bach Choir will also present the powerful “To the Hands,” by Pulitzer prize-winning contemporary composer Caroline Shaw. Also, the audience will experience a glimpse of The Bach Choir’s upcoming European tour and “select musical gems.”

The concert will explore the connections between the rich past and dynamic present of choral music. It will take place at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem, 2744 Center St., Bethlehem.

Performing with The Bach Festival Orchestra, Artistic Director and Conductor Christopher Jackson and the Choir also welcome soloists Nola Richardson, soprano; Janna Critz, alto; Lawrence Jones, tenor; and Edmund Milly, bass.
