Friends of Riegelsville Library Holiday Cookie Sale and Gift Boutique approaches

Posted

The Friends of the Riegelsville Public Library is sponsoring its Holiday Cookie Sale and Gift Boutique from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 17, in the Community Room of the Riegelsville Borough Hall, 615 Easton Road. The building is handicapped-accessible.

“Leave the holiday baking to us. We will have home-baked cookies and treats donated by some of the best bakers in the area. Perfect for your holiday table or gift giving. Come early, and buy extras, so you’ll have some for yourself. We have people queuing up 30 minutes before we open the doors; it’s that popular,” a friends member said.

The Friends’ Gift Boutique offers unique gifts for the busy shopper. The lineup includes:

• Rocky Top Farm (handspun yarn and related knitted items)

• Mementos to Cherish (crafts fabricated from vintage quilts, linens, buttons, lace, etc.)

• Johanna Forte (knitted hats, mitts, shawls, and scarves)

• Sue’s Wood Craft (wood cutting boards, hand-turned bowls, rolling pins, wooden games, twig pots, and holiday decorations)

• Moody Plum Studio (Vintage style/handmade jewelry)

• Peggy Douglas (hand-thrown pottery bowls and mugs, all food-safe glazes, microwave and oven safe)

• Creations by Carole Lee (Crochet afghans for babies and larger, knitted dish cloths, crochet scarfs, Christmas angels, and more)

• A & M Apiary/Zdepski Fine Woodworking (Pure raw local honey, beeswax)

• Friends of the Riegelsville Public Library (an assortment of purchased and handcrafted items really cool stuff)

The nonprofit Friends group helps support the Riegelsville Public Library. Over the past 14 years, the Friends group has given greater than $27,000 in combined cash and non-cash donations as a result of its fundraising efforts.

Bakers are needed and the Friends will raffle off more than a dozen special gift-wrapped gifts as an added incentive to bake. Two raffle tickets are given for every one dozen cookies donated toward this event. Non-bakers are able to purchase raffle tickets at the event.

Donated cookies can be dropped off on Saturday, Dec. 16, between 1 and 3 p.m. at the Riegelsville Borough Hall, or Sunday, Dec. 17, before 9 a.m. Donated cookies need to be placed in disposable containers, and information needs to be provided as to whether or not they contain nuts. For information, call Debbie Jo Mitchell at 610-749-0633 or Nancy McEvoy at 610-749-0790.
