Frenchtown Bookshop presents award-winning poet

Posted

On Saturday, Feb. 24, at 6:30 p.m., the Frenchtown Bookshop will host poet José Olivarez to celebrate the paperback release of his poetry collection, “Promises of Gold” (Macmillan).

Longlisted for the 2023 National Book Award for Poetry, “Promises of Gold” is a collection of poems about love – brotherly, romantic, familial, cultural – and how love is complicated by the forces of society.

Olivarez’s poems have been published in the New York Times and the Paris Review. His poems have been called “compelling and emotional” (Newsweek, “Best Books of 2019”) and “striking” (NPR, “Best Books of 2019”).

The event is free and open to the public. The author will read from and sign his book and will be interviewed by Poetry Curator Helen O’Connor.

Frenchtown Bookshop, a family-owned, neighborhood, independent book store, is located at 28 Bridge St., Frenchtown, N.J. For information, visit frenchtownbookshop.com. or call 908-628-9297.
