The annual Young Performers Concert for members of the Delaware Valley Music Club will take place March 7, at Thompson Memorial Church in New Hope.

The performers are the top winners of the Bucks County Symphony Youth Concerto competition held in 2023.

The competition’s first prize winner is 13-year old Mio Imai, of Spring City, who began playing the violin at age 4.

Runner-up was Samuel Cao, a 15-year-old cellist from Philadelphia, who has played the instrument since the age of 6.

Earning an honorable mention was Anton Wingert, 15, a ninth-grade student at Tohickon Middle School in Doylestown, where he is principal violist for his school orchestra. He began playing viola at age 6 to complete a string quartet with his older siblings.

A highlight of the March 7 concert will be a performance on Thompson Memorial’s organ by Wesley Howell, winner of the $3,000 Bart Pitman Memorial Scholarship Award for 2023. His studies began at age 5.
