Posted

What is on the minds of young people today?

Among many issues, the environment is high on the list. In particular youth are concerned about pollution, forever chemicals, climate change, and deforestation.

In an effort to raise awareness, 23 young artists, whose ages range from 10-17, participated in a local art show titled “Happy Trees” to raise funds for The Arbor Day Foundation. The art show was held at Countryside Gallery in historic Newtown. Note cards were sold featuring images of each of the student’s paintings, and a group painting titled “Springtime at Tyler Park” was sold via silent auction to the highest bidder.

Altogether the students raised over $1,200. All proceeds were donated to The Arbor Day Foundation.

Participating artists were: Amelia Binkley, Mia Brady, Allison Cirillo, Victoria Cirillo, Taylor Dahms, Lily Esposito, Paarth Kunwar, Andrew Loudon, Tim Loudon, Darcy McCullough, Evangeline McGarry, William McNamara, Amelia Mlynarczyk, Ava Peterson, Jane Reifsneider, Chris Riether, Elizabeth Rubenstein, Violet Schroeher, Anna Sherwin, Addy Smith, Kate Smith, Ian Stone and Sean Williams.
