With three at 103, Neshaminy Manor celebrates

Posted

Mix the magic of the one-and-only Phillie Phanatic with three women celebrating their 103rd birthdays and you have a very special occasion.

For Esther Welch, Emma Ventresca and Ann Nieswander, it was just that, when Esther’s 103rd birthday wish from the Twilight Wish Foundation came true this month at Neshaminy Manor.

The Doylestown Township nursing home lit up with smiling faces as the Philadelphia Phillies mascot took to the floor and Ann joined him for a dance, while about 60 other residents looked on and clapped.

“It was incredible,” said Cass Forkin, founder and chairwoman of Twilight Wish, based in Jamison. “Everyone was surprised and it just created such a great atmosphere.”

All three women turned 103 this year, with Esther hitting the remarkable milestone Dec. 7. The three Phillies fans often watch the games together, said Forkin.

Twilight Wish Foundation is a national nonprofit that grants the wishes of low-income seniors or those who are residents of a nursing care facility. Those who would like to help make a senior’s lifelong dream come true can visit www.twilightwish.org or call 215-230-8777 x. 104.
