Virtual run, walk benefits children with special needs

Posted

Sunshine Foundation is hosting its 19th annual RunWalkBark4Dreams 2-mile walk and 5K run virtually this year. Participants can run, walk or bark between May 22 and June 12 at their favorite site, be it a park, neighborhood or backyard.

The $10 entry fee benefits the Sunshine Foundation, which aims to make children’s dreams come true.

The RunWalkBark4Dreams is a national event with a goal to have participants and supporters from all 50 states.

Rebekah, who has lumbar spinal bifida, is one of the dreamers the RunWalkBark4Dreams will be sponsoring. Rebekah’s dream is to visit Lancaster with her family, where she can attend a production at the Sight & Sound Theater, ride the train, and visit other local attractions.

This year’s event is also open to corporate groups and organizations as a team building activity to support children with chronic illnesses and conditions in their community.
Sunshine Foundation is a wish-granting organization established in Philadelphia in 1976. They answer the dreams of children (ages 3 through 18) who have severe or profound physical, developmental and intellectual challenges or trauma from physical or sexual abuse whose families cannot fulfill the child’s requests due to financial strain.
