Upper Makefield pushes forward on 2024 paving projects

Posted

Upper Makefield is looking for a good contractor.

At a recent public meeting, the township Board of Supervisors authorized advertising to invite contractors to bid on roadwork projects the municipality wants executed in 2024.

Bidding is expected to open May 9. The successful contractor would then be selected on May 21.

“Work is anticipated to begin in early June and to conclude by the end of August, assuming no significant delays,” said Judy Caporiccio, assistant township manager in Upper Makefield.

According to bid documents, the work will involve milling, base repair, leveling course, manhole rim adjustments and wearing course along various roads in Upper Makefield.

The base bid package calls for a contractor to address:

• Brownsburg Road East from Eagle Road to River Road

• Scott Drive from Highland Road to the end

• Creamery Road from Wrightstown Road to Silver Trail Circle

• Meadow View Drive from Old Dolington Road to Washington Crossing Road

Alternate areas that could potentially also receive work are Sewer Plant Road from Taylorsville Road to the end, and Sewer Plant Internal Road from Sewer Plant Road to the end.

Upper Makefield supervisors annually budget money to tackle needed upgrades on township-owned roadways. These envisioned 2024 projects are part of that ongoing effort.
