Posted

Trinity Church’s Friends of Music presents the Hofstra University Chamber Choir in an evening of eclectic choral music at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, as part of its 2024 Northeast American Tour.

Conducted by American Prize winner Dr. David Fryling, the ensemble specializes in the distinct art of unaccompanied ensemble singing, and prides itself on a mastery of a widely eclectic repertoire dating from the Renaissance to the 21st century.

The choir has been invited to present concerts in venues throughout the Northeast, including in such remarkable locations as Carnegie Hall, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in Manhattan, the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City, N.Y., and the historic Christ Church, Oyster Bay, N.Y. In addition, the choir actively engages high school and community choral programs in shared concerts, workshops, and masterclasses, reveling in the two-way exchange of new ideas and artistic inspiration between multiple generations.

Fryling is director of choral activities at Hofstra University, where he conducts both the select Hofstra Chorale and the Hofstra Chamber Choir and teaches beginning and advanced studies in choral conducting as well as graduate-level studies in choral conducting and choral literature.

Repertoire for this concert will be chosen from the following composers: Ivo Antognini, Eric William Barnum, Jussi Chydenius, Samuel Coleridge-Tayloer, William Dawson, Jocelyn Hagen, Robert Harris, Michael Hennigan, Moses Hogan, Sarah Hopkins, Merrill Garbus, Katerina Gimon, Alberto Grau, Pedro Gutierrez, Don MacDonald, Joseph Shbalala, and Eric Whitacre.

Trinity Episcopal Church is located at Route 263 and Sugan Road, Solebury. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for those 18 and under. For tickets, call 215-297-5135.
