The Hun School serves up new sport offerings

Posted

A new year brings a fresh start for many; for The Hun School in Princeton, N.J., it brings a new breadth of athletic offerings for Upper School students.

In 2020, cheerleading returned to the sidelines for the first time since 2013. Since then, the team has made major “front handsprings” forward. In November, the team earned a bid to nationals by competing at the UCA Northeast Regional competition – a first for the program. This month, the team traveled to Walt Disney World to compete in the National High School Cheerleading Championship.

In recent surveys, feedback from students and parents indicated a great desire for more net sports, both competitive and intramural. Pickleball and martial arts have been added to intramural sports. Girls volleyball, the most requested sport of 2023, will officially begin as a varsity sport in the fall of 2024.

The Rock Climbing Club quickly gained popularity and given its broad success, was elevated to a winter sport.

Co-Directors of Athletics Tracey Arndt and Sean Costello believe that athletics are a great conduit for community at Hun and are eager to welcome as many students as possible into the experience.
