The Art of the River Towns Artist of the Week: H. Scott Heist

Posted
This week we are featuring a participating artist from the Art of the River Towns Juried Show.

Art of the River Towns, presented by River Towns Magazine, was held Oct. 1 to 4, at Prallsville Mills in Stockton, N.J.

H. Scott Heist of Kintersville is a professional working journalist and publication photographer who has worked with national and international publications for generations.

“Most of his exhibited prints are from working stories and reportages,” Heist said in his artist statement.

“This print of a 1938 Waco Bi-Plane over the Delaware at sunrise was made for an annual report and later acquired as prints by the institution,” he said in his statement.

“It appeared in several books and received awards from both the Philadelphia and New York City Art Directors Clubs as well as CASE Gold Awards ... the trade association for American Universities. It remains as part of his active portfolio.”

Heist’s work has been acquired by La Musee d’Art Modern de la Ville de Paris, the James A. Michener Art Museum, and the International Center of Photography, among other museum and corporate collections and archives.

He continues to work from Splinter Cottage in the Upper Bucks County woods. His work can be viewed on his website: SplinterCottage.com.

Works by Heist and over 100 other local artists can be found and purchased on the Art of the River Towns Online Sales Gallery through Dec. 31. The online gallery features over 400 unique works by local artists. For information, visit Rivertownsmagazine.com.
