Stacy Crandell is out as Souderton Borough Manager after just six months on the job, and officials are mum as to the reason.
“It is our policy that we do not comment on personnel matters,” council president Tracy W. Burke said Tuesday.
Crandell, a Chalfont resident, couldn’t be reached for comment Tuesday but her professional LinkedIn page suggests she did not leave for another job. In addition to no current job listed, it characterizes her as “open to work,” with a potential start date of “Immediately, I am actively applying.”
Souderton Borough hired Crandell, then assistant manager for Doylestown Township, to succeed Mike Coll, who’d held the job for 40 years.
At the time, councilwoman Julie A. Munden called finding the right person to replace Coll “the single most important initiative that we dedicated ourselves to for the past year.”
Two months after Crandell’s October arrival, the borough raised real estate taxes by 37% in a move that, in a letter to the Souderton Independent, Mayor Dan Yocum characterized as a “bold step” that stemmed from a Crandell-led shift in fiscal strategy.
Crandell’s LinkedIn page provides a laundry list of accomplishments during her six-month tenure in Souderton. It credits her with overseeing implementation of a new website, starting the borough’s LinkedIn page, hiring a new engineer and solicitor, getting the budget passed, developing a capital project plan, initiating information technology security upgrades, drafting an employee handbook, updating the police department’s Civil Service Commission Rules and Regulations and other achievements.
Souderton Borough Council accepted her resignation on Monday and appointed Finance Director Sara Jarrett-Eaton to the job of secretary and acting borough manager. Jarrett-Eaton arrived in Souderton last month, according to her LinkedIn page, which lists her previous job as assistant manager for Emmaus Borough in Lehigh County.
