St. Andrew’s Episcopal presents Fauré Requiem

Posted

The Fauré “Requiem” will be presented at Choral Evensong at Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, York and Main streets Lambertville, N.J., at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 1.

The choir of Saint Andrew’s Church will first sing “Ubi caritas” by Maurice Duruflé, versicles and canticles by William Byrd and Charles Villiers Stanford.

The Liturgy will conclude with an offering of the complete Fauré “Requiem” with soloists and orchestra. The orchestra includes strings, brass, organ and harp, and will use a reconstruction of Gabriel Fauré’s original orchestration.

The choir and orchestra are under the direction of Michael T. Kevane, organist-choirmaster at Saint Andrew’s.

The next musical offering at Saint Andrew’s Church during the Lenten Season is a presentation on Sunday, March 15, of Part 1 of J.S. Bach’s “Saint John Passion.” This is offered at the 9:30 a.m. liturgy with choir, soloists and baroque orchestra. Part 1 presents the narrative of Christ’s betrayal by Judas and ends with Peter’s three denials of Christ.

Saint Andrew’s welcomes all to the Choral Evensong and the Morning Liturgy.
