Spearhead Project Earth has announced the student winners of its first scholarship essay contest: Leon Barchue and Gabriel Rubio. The winning essays were selected based on the ideas Burlington City High School students offered about the impact of single-use plastics on the environment, as Spearhead Project Earth’s core mission is to clean plastic waste from Burlington Island and surrounding waterways. Spearhead Project Earth is the nonprofit arm of Yardley-based The Spearhead Group.
