The “Looking for the Light” photography exhibit continues its Bucks County tour, opening at the Brig O’Doon Coffeehouse Saturday, Nov. 11.
The photo exhibition features images by Kelli Abdoney, a photographer, photo essayist and instructor at Solebury School, focusing on the landscapes of Scotland, from where she hails.
Abdoney has traveled globally, taking photographs of both landscapes and people that tell the hidden stories that often get overlooked, and in doing so, calls attention to the commonalities we all face together, yet are often forgotten.
These photographs, presented prolifically in black and white, embrace light in ways that move beyond a monochromatic view of the picture itself into one that illustrates the often-missed nuances that are illuminated, both literally and figuratively, by the way light is captured.
In addition to her landscape work, Abdoney teaches photography at the Solebury School, focused on both technique and history, imparting both a respect and a discipline often forgotten by today’s Instagram culture. She employs this journalistic technique for weddings, celebrations and events she is asked to photograph, as well.
You can witness the power of “Looking for the Light” at Brig O’Doon Coffeehouse at 239 Durham Road, Ottsville. Abdoney will lead a gallery talk, followed by a reception from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. Thereafter, the exhibit will be open to the public Tuesday through Sunday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
