Ruth Ann Kintzel

Ruth Ann Kintzel, 82, of Delaware Township, N.J., died on Monday, November 27, 2023 at her home with her family by her side.

Born in Frenchtown, Ruth Ann grew up in Holland Township where she graduated from Frenchtown Grammar School and High School. As a young woman she worked at the Jockey Underwear Company in Lambertville. After raising her children, Ruth Ann was employed by the East Amwell School District as secretary to the school superintendent and the school board. She retired in 2007 after 25 years of service and was honored by the school for her professionalism and dedication.

Ruth Ann was devoted to her family, a dedicated wife and mother. A country girl at heart, Ruth Ann enjoyed her garden and raised a wide assortment of flowers and vegetables. She shared her love of gardening with her son, Scott. Each fall Ruth Ann would can their harvest for winter. Together they raised bees and produced their own honey. An accomplished baker, her baking took both first and second place for her molasses crumb cake and her Peanut Butter Tasty Cake at the 2011 Hunterdon County Fair. Ruth Ann loved sitting out on her deck on summer evenings, watching the sun go down and the fireflies emerge.

Ruth Ann is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Scott and Terry Kintzel of Lambertville, her sisters Betty McPeak and Diana Bacon (husband Gary); her sisters-in-law Frances Rodenbaugh, Beatrice Rodenbaugh and Alice Rodenbaugh and several nieces and nephews. She was the wife of the late Raymond Kintzel, mother of the late Brian C. Kintzel, daughter of the late Charles and Theresa Gall Rodenbaugh and sister of the late Charles Rodenbaugh, Robert Rodenbaugh, Richard Rodenbaugh, Joyce Sutton, William Rodenbaugh, and Kathleen Rodenbaugh and the sister-in-law of the late Robert Sutton and Marshal McPeak.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530. Interment will follow at the Holcombe-Riverview Cemetery, Delaware Township, N.J.

There will be calling hours at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the start of services.
