PA State Police seek help finding car that struck patrol car

The Pennsylvania State Police Troop M – Bethlehem barracks is requesting the public’s assistance with identifying the vehicle that struck an unmarked patrol vehicle and fled the scene without stopping.

At 11:41 p.m. Saturday, June 5, a Trooper assigned to the Pennsylvania State Police Bethlehem barracks made a traffic stop, on the right shoulder of the highway, of eight vehicles on State Route 22 Eastbound at State Route 33, Bethlehem Township, Northampton County, due to vehicles racing.

As the Trooper opened the driver’s side door, the vehicle, which had initially stopped on the right shoulder of the highway behind the unmarked patrol vehicle, accelerated from the scene, striking the driver’s side door of the patrol vehicle. The Trooper attempted to pursue the striking vehicle but was unable to stop it.

The striking vehicle is described as silver and may be a Chevrolet Malibu, with damage on the rear passenger side.
