Posted

Newtown Township Police Department responded to two separate vehicle fires involving school property Friday morning. Both incidents do not appear to be suspicious, and authorities are investigating to ensure no criminal acts were involved.

At 07:44 a.m., patrol responded to the St. Andrew Catholic Education Center on Wrights Road for a report of a vehicle on fire in the parking lot. The vehicle was unoccupied at the time and there were no injuries or any other property damage as a result of this incident. Newtown Fire Rescue and the Newtown Township Police Department are actively investigating the cause of the fire.

At 08:47 a.m., patrol was advised of a Council Rock School District bus on fire along the 500 block of Penns Park Road in Wrightstown. The bus was occupied by 36 students, along with the driver, and all were evacuated safely with no injuries. All students were subsequently transported by a secondary bus to their destination. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Lingohocken Fire Department along with the Newtown Township Police Department.
