Mercantile Home offers look on “The Bright Side”

Posted

Mercantile Home, the downtown Easton creative studio and shop, debuted a big, whimsical art experience at the center of the Easton Public Market Wednesday, Feb. 10.

Known for its handmade creations and engaging community art projects, Mercantile Home used locally created, colorful elements to sculpt “The Bright Side.”

“The project includes the wool of local sheep, hand dyed into technicolor shades, bright ribbon, yarns, and our signature Mercantile colorful critters: the unofficial mascot for the playful spirit in Easton and beyond,” said Mercantile co-owner/artist Ken Jones Jr.

Added co-owner Ron Morris, “Our community is experiencing tough, often dark times. We are creating something to offer a little light, a lot of color, and a deep breath to take a moment and look at ‘The Bright Side’ of things.”

“The Easton Public Market is the perfect place for this project,” Morris added. “It is a bright spot in our community. A place where, together, we weather these proverbial storms. Small business owners making quality food and goods, and working to create a safe, welcoming environment for the community, who come from near and far to support and enjoy it.”
