La Fiocco to present its annual holiday concert

Posted

La Fiocco, Bucks County’s Baroque music ensemble, continues its 2023-24 season with its third annual holiday concert, “The Old Year Now Away is Fled.”

The concert will take place at Trinity Episcopal Church, 6587 Upper York Road, Solebury, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15. The repertory will range from the 17th century to the present day, including works of composers Dario Castello, Dieterich Buxtehude, Godfrey Finger, Antonio Bertoli, and John Playford, as well as traditional music of Ireland, Scandinavia, and Colonial America.

The musicians performing on period instruments are Nathan Bishop, baroque violin and Norwegian hardingfele; Elaine Yao, baroque violin; Benjamin Rechel, violone and viola da gamba; Allen Hamrick, recorder and dulcian; Jorge Torres, lute and baroque guitar; and Lewis R. Baratz, harpsichord and recorder. Baratz, artistic director, will also lead the ensemble. Abigail W. Chapman will be the soprano soloist.

In the spirit of the holiday, tickets are offered at a lower rate than for regular La Fiocco series concerts, and are $15 general admission, and free for children 12 and under. Tickets are available at the door (cash or check), or online by credit card at lafiocco.org.
