Kudos for the Trading Up series

Posted

The Bucks County Herald’s excellent “Trading Up” series on the state of vocational and technical education at the secondary and higher education levels reveals the extraordinary scope of opportunities available to Bucks County residents. Many of these are offered at extremely affordable levels and, upon course completion, create living wage career opportunities. At Bucks County Community College (BCCC), we are proud of the accomplishments that so many of our students have achieved — both those that have completed certification programs and degree graduates.

Since the Center for Advanced Technologies opened in April 2023, BCCC has served over 1,200 students in various programs. The college’s pre-apprenticeship students have been employed with an average hourly wage of $22.31 and a starting salary of $46,405. This equates to $2,552,264 in salaried positions.

Over the last two years BCCC has trained over 100 students in our Commercial Driver’s License program and the college will expand this program to the upper part of Bucks County later this year.

Our skin care esthetics program begins this month in partnership with the Upper Bucks Technical high school.

Bucks County residents, as well as those living beyond the boundaries of our county, have a phenomenal resource in BCCC from which to springboard into their potential — be it in the trades or with an advanced degree.

Dr. Richard Balukas, Trustee, BCCC
