Kids meet the masters at Concert in the Round

Posted

Children ages 4 to 12 will have the opportunity to enjoy the world of classical chamber music at the Lenape Chamber Ensemble’s “Concert in the Round” at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at Delaware Valley University’s Life Sciences Building Auditorium in Doylestown.

The chamber musicians who will perform classical favorites at the Friday and Sunday adult concerts, will bring to the children excerpts from the program of music by Beethoven, Poulenc and Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel for two violins, viola, cello and piano. The performers are from top New York performing groups including the American Symphony, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and the Ravinia and Marlboro Music Festivals.

Children will meet the performers and see up close how they create music from their instruments. There will be questions and answers and a hands-on instrument demonstration.

Moderator for the 45-minute program will be violinist Katie Hyun, an ASTRAL Artist Laureate with an active solo career.

Admission is $2 at the door for each child. Parents and adults accompanying the children will be admitted free. Information is available online and by calling 610-294-9361.
