Fleming is newest 1,000-point Eagle

Posted

Kadie Fleming, only a junior, became the newest member of the South Hunterdon 1,000-point club Thursday night in the Eagles’ (7-18) 59-45 home win against Koinonia. Fleming scored 22 and grabbed nine rebounds.

Fleming actually hit two milestones in rapid succession. With her ninth point of the game, she crossed 500 points for this season. And with her 10th point, she joined the 1,000-point club. Fleming finished the regular season with 1,026 points and has 527 on the year.

A guard/forward, Fleming averages 21.1 points per game. Fleming scored 22 in South Hunterdon’s 64-36 loss to Group 3 Neptune two days after Christmas. Since then, she has topped 20 points 14 times and 30 points three times, with a high of 32 in South Hunterdon’s 64-18 win over College Achieve Central.

A big part of Fleming’s scoring surge has been her acumen from the 3-point line. She has hit nearly twice as many treys this year (37) as she did in her freshman and sophomore years combined (20).

South Hunterdon opens Central Jersey Group 1 sectionals on Feb. 22 as a No. 8 seed hosting No. 9 Keansburg.
