Handmade Market and Family Festival to take place at Hortulus Farm

Posted

Hortulus Farm will host its second annual Summer Handmade Market and the inaugural Hortulus Family Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 24 and 25, at 60 Thompson Mill Road, Wrightstown. Admission is free.

Last year’s successful Summer Market brought together members of the community to support Bucks County’s artisans. The overwhelming response inspired Jon and Ariel Kontz, executive directors, to expand and enhance the event this year.

“We have designed this Handmade Market and Festival with families in mind, offering more opportunities for everyone to enjoy the best of our farm, nature, and community,” said Jon. “We’ve curated an extraordinary lineup of 50-plus local artisans who will showcase their exceptional craftsmanship.”

From artworks to unique handmade items, visitors will have the chance to explore and shop a diverse range of locally handmade home goods and decor and meet the makers behind them.

In addition to the art, Hortulus has curated a selection of food and drinks for a variety of palates. Guests can indulge in food offerings from Sunny Day Smoothie Co. (Saturday and Sunday) as well as Two Street Sammie’s (Saturday) and Local Harvest Pizza (Sunday) and enjoy beverages in the Hortulus Cocktail Garden from James Cain and Co. The Hortulus Cafe will be open, serving its pastry and cafe beverages, including the fan favorite, Rosemary Latte.

The Hortulus team has planned yard games and activities for the entire family, and will open Fairy Hollow, a place where children of all ages can paint and create their very own miniature fairy garden. Fairy story hour will be held at noon Saturday and Sunday at the steps entering Fairy Hollow.

As a preview of the upcoming Children’s Botanical Play Garden, Hortulus Farm will introduce a boat launch experience during the festival weekend. In the Boulder Cascade and Aquaplay area, children can paint their own wooden boat and watch it sail down the cascading waters. Younger attendees can also play at the Bubble station.

Guests can enjoy live music from noon to 3 p.m. both days. On Saturday, Manouche5, a Philadelphia-based five-piece jazz group, will perform. On Sunday, Hortulus favorites, the Ocean Avenue Stompers, a brass band based in Asbury Park, N.J., will return.

Additionally, the Hortulus Garden Shop will offer annuals and perennials handpicked by the team at Hortulus Farm. Guests can also discover an array of home and garden goods. In collaboration with Liza Miller LTD, Hortulus will continue to showcase European-imported furniture and antiques.
