Groundwater stewardship and testing education event slated in Upper Bucks

Posted

Should I test my well water? How do I interpret the results?

Is there sufficient groundwater to meet my family’s needs?

The Bridgeton-Nockamixon-Tinicum Groundwater Management Committee and ECO-Bucks will present a two-evening public education event at Palisades High School 7:30 p.m. on April 8 and 22. The event will also be live-streamed: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChZcI_VtyGRWqGCCUNhIlVA.

The April 8 session will cover water quality/well testing. The April 22 session will cover groundwater stewardship and an overview of the groundwater protective ordinance recently enacted by Nockamixon Township. No formal scientific background is needed to benefit from the presentations.

The Groundwater Management Committee is a volunteer group of residents from the three townships who have done scientific research on the area’s groundwater for over 20 years. They developed the groundwater ordinance that was recently enacted by Nockamixon Township and is currently being reviewed by Tinicum and Bridgeton townships. Their website includes an area drought monitor, and reports reflecting their research: http://bntgroundwater.org.

Persons who plan to attend are encouraged to view a video before the event: https://psu.mediaspace.kaltura.com/media/Private+Water+Supply+Education+and+ Water+Testing+/1_tnemixxk.
