Grant to allow Michener Museum to offer free admission days, extended hours

Posted

Guests will be able to visit the James A. Michener Art Museum for free on the second Sunday of each month and enjoy extended hours on the first Thursday of the month thanks to grant funding from the Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program.

The Bucks County museum received a $400,000 grant from Art Bridges Foundation to participate in the Access for All program, allowing the museum to offer a free admission day and evening hours each month.

Starting March 10, the second Sundays are free at the Michener, offering a range of programming to engage the whole family. Sunday hours at the museum are 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Beginning March 7, the Museum will expand its hours on the first Thursday of each month, offering programs from 5 to 8 p.m. which are accessible to people who cannot attend during the day. Admission is required on first Thursdays, and more program information is available on the website.

Access for All will greatly expand the museum’s reach and could serve thousands of people who might not otherwise visit.

“We thank Art Bridges Foundation for this generous gift that will make the museum more accessible than ever to the Bucks County region,” said Executive Director Anne Corso.

“The Michener is entering an exciting time of renewal, and we are finding new ways to encourage our patrons to develop a lifelong involvement in the arts. We are committed to presenting exhibitions that explore a variety of artistic expressions and offer diverse educational programs, and increasing access to all is key to realizing that mission. We hope people will always view the museum as a welcoming community space.”
