Posted

What’s better than a nice cold drink, hot, fresh popcorn and a good movie? How about watching that film, about the founder of the County Theater, on the big screen in a nice comfy seat in the newly renovated County Theater, 20 E. State St., Doylestown?

Join the Doylestown Historical Society at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, for the debut screening of “John Toner, Founding Director of the County Theater,” who is interviewed by Doylestown’s former Mayor, Ron Strouse.

Toner traces the history of film theater in Doylestown: how it began, developed, and progressed with the hopes of economic changes for the town. Toner and Strouse discuss the first ideas of “Closely Watched Films,” which many have attended throughout the years, and how those conversations changed the perception of Doylestown.

Toner will be available after the screening to answer questions from the audience.

The ticket price of $12 includes a cold drink and hot, fresh popcorn to enjoy while viewing another recorded interview in the Doylestown Historical Societies Video History Series.

Purchase your tickets at the door, by calling the Doylestown Historical Society at 215-345-9430 or through its website doylestownhistorical.org.
