After decades of silence, Glen Foerd’s recently restored 122-year-old Haskell pipe organ will celebrate love in all its forms on Valentine’s Day with a public concert and happy hour.
The event is free to the public, however registration is required. The grand opening of the organ, on Jan. 6, quickly sold out with more than 200 individuals registered.
Guest organist Luke Staisiunas, organist-choirmaster at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia, will perform romantic melodies including Fritz Kreisler’s “Liebesfreud” (Love’s Joy), Edward Elgar’s “Salut d’Amour,” as well as the 1931 hit, “Dream a Little Dream of Me,” and other popular tunes.
Attendees of Glen Foerd’s first Valentine’s Day pipe organ concert will have a chance to explore the historic Gilded Age mansion while listening to the performance.
There will be vendors and activities to explore, including love-inspired tarot readings. Some seating will be provided in the first-floor drawing room and second-floor art gallery. There will be a cash bar, and light bar snacks will be for sale. An Ultimate Spa Retreat Gift Basket from Nulook Wellness, valued at $300, will be raffled off.
Doors open at 5 p.m. for check-in and cash bar. The event runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at 5001 Grant Ave., Philadelphia.
