Doylestown Historical Society, Fire Co. set 100th anniversary event

Posted

The Doylestown Historical Society and the Doylestown Fire Company acknowledge and support the 100th anniversary of the DFC’s classic fire truck, the Ahrens “Fox” Pumper.

The “Fox” Pumper was purchased from the Ahrens Fox Company of Cincinnati, Ohio, in June 1923 at a cost of $13,400. It was commissioned for service to the Doylestown community in December 1923.

You are invited to attend a celebration, at 7 p.m. Nov. 30, at the Doylestown Fire Company, 68 Shewell Ave., which includes a speaker presentation, a tour of the original 1902 Oscar Martin designed firehouse, highlighting the modern fleet of firefighting equipment, and a video presentation of recent use of the Ahrens Fox Pumper.

Enjoy free admission to this special event, with adjacent parking in the C&N Bank parking lot. Pastries and beverages are sponsored by Maryanne Pastry Shoppe and Wawa.

A limited-edition Mercer Commemorative Tile Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Ahrens-Fox will be available for sale.
