Council Rock South student spearheads international Jewish teen summit

Posted

Elizabeth Kraychik, a 10th grader at Council Rock South and distinguished leader at the CTeen Bucks County chapter, hosted the closing ceremony of the prominent international Jewish teen summit.

Chosen for her inspirational leadership and widely acclaimed Jewish-themed Instagram videos, Elizabeth played a pivotal role in this year’s summit, uniting thousands of Jewish teens from around the world in a demonstration of unity and resilience.

This significant event, highlighted by the participation of 3,000 Jewish teens from 54 countries – including 200 Israeli teens, some of which are survivors of the Nova massacre – marked a historic gathering under the banner of CTeen, the largest Jewish teen network globally.

The summit’s activities, notably the iconic Times Square Jewish pride event that went viral with millions of views on social media, reinforced the resilience of Jewish youth worldwide.

Under the guidance of Rabbi Chaim and Nina Shemtov, leaders of CTeen Bucks County, Elizabeth has become a living example of true leadership. Her efforts are especially significant in the wake of Oct. 7, underscoring the importance of strong, visible Jewish leadership.

Throughout the summit, participants engaged in workshops on key topics such as leadership training, mental health, and the Jewish response to antisemitism, and experienced spiritual growth through visiting the Rebbe’s Ohel, emphasizing the weekend’s goal to fortify Jewish pride and identity.

“Elizabeth has exemplified what it means to lead with strength and compassion. Her influence extends far beyond Bucks County, inspiring teens across the globe,” said Rabbi Shemtov.

During the summit, Elizabeth, alongside co-host Ellie Wichansky from East Valley, Ariz., led the proceedings with a message of unity, resilience, and Jewish pride. “This moment is bigger than us,” Elizabeth stated, emphasizing the collective power of Jewish youth to make a difference in the world. Her words resonated deeply, especially her reflections on the community’s response to the challenges since Oct. 7.

Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky of CTeen International also commended Elizabeth’s leadership: “In times when the Jewish community faces unprecedented challenges, leaders like Elizabeth stand out. She embodies the indomitable spirit of the Jewish people. Constantly responding to darkness with light for thousands of years.”
