I lament the passing of Michael Gerson, an evangelical Christian and conservative journalist. He was an advisor and speech writer for Republican political leaders including President George W. Bush and was also a senior policy advisor at the conservative Heritage Foundation.
But he was respected by both liberals and conservatives and the left leaning Washington Post gave him a forum to write columns twice a week where he expressed his deep concern with today’s populism and politics of anger. This nation would be well served by other media outlets offering more balanced commentary. Michael will be missed.
