Chimayo Gallery to open spring exhibition

Posted

The spring exhibition at Chimayo Gallery in Perkasie will open May 19 and run through June 19. The show, which features the work of Julia Castor and Gay Brunt Miller, marks a return to the gallery’s recurrent art displays.

Julia Castor’s love of pottery grew out of her love for the Earth. Castor bought a pottery wheel on Craigslist and taught herself the craft in a corner of her instructor’s studio. She pursued her development through workshops, classes and internships.

Gay Brunt Miller calls herself an “accidental artist,” as her art has blossomed the past several years.Miller’s main art form is the mandala, a meditative art form created inside a circle. Some of her designs are immensely personal, while others are for pure enjoyment.

Due to current protocols, there will be no opening reception. Viewing hours will be from noon to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The Chimayo Gallery is located in Perkasie. For details, visit chimayogallery.com or call 267-733-5012.
