Cantus Novus concert to celebrate season of beauty

Posted

Cantus Novus, a premier 40-voice, auditioned chamber choir in Bucks County, will present its Christmas concerts, “Beauty Surrounds Us in Love and Jubilation,” on Dec. 1, 2 and 3.

December can be a time of joy and love. Gifts given and received. Celebrations of food and family flourish. Cultures collide in peace and harmony to celebrate diversity and traditions.

In this spirit, Cantus Novus presents a choral-orchestral tour-de-force from composer Dan Forrest. “Jubilate Deo,” for choir, soloists and chamber orchestra is a seven-movement celebration from the Book of Psalms performed in English, Latin, Hebrew, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Zulu, and Spanish.

The concert includes seasonal favorites which the choir says are “sure to bring a smile.” This is especially so in the creative and unusual take on “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”

There are three opportunities to enjoy the holiday program: Friday, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Solebury; Saturday, Dec. 2, at 8 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Doylestown; and Sunday, Dec. 3, at 4 p.m. at Morrisville Presbyterian Church, Morrisville. Tickets purchased in advance are $25. Visit www.cantusnovus.org. Tickets at the door are $30 cash or checks only.
