Police activity ends "safely;" Sunday morning Newtown Twp shelter-in-place lifted

Posted

For two hours Sunday morning, residents in the Headley development of Newtown Township were asked to shelter in place due to police activity. Motorists were also asked to avoid the area. The development is located off Newtown Yardley Road near Dolington Road.

The advisory, posted to the police department's Facebook page, came just after 8 a.m. and was lifted at about 10 a.m.

"The shelter in place has been lifted, and there is no danger to the community," the department said on Facebook. "Police operations have ended safely and there will be additional information released at a later time. We thank everyone for their cooperation."

This is a developing story.
