Posted

After the Bucks County Foundation Distribution Committee approved a grant to Bucks County Herald Foundation in the amount of $6,000 to support coverage into the Lower Bucks County areas, Executive Director Mandy Mundy presented a check for that amount to John Anastasi, editor-in-chief of the Herald.

The Herald Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit was founded in 2021 to support the local journalism efforts of the Bucks County Herald newspaper and auxiliary publications Prime Time, Flemington Life and Bucks Family. The funding will be used to help expand coverage in underserved communities in Lower Bucks County.

Expansion so far has included coverage of Falls Township, Middletown Township Neshaminy School District, Bensalem School District and Pennsbury School District. With sufficient funding, the Herald hopes to bring more local news to Morrisville and Bristol.

The Bucks County Foundation (BCF) is a tax-exempt, charitable trust managing permanent endowment funds that serve community needs in arts and culture, education, animal causes, health and human services, and the environment.

Since its founding in 1979, BCF has provided more than $3 million in scholarships for Bucks County students to attend college. It has provided more than $2,783,000 in grants to more than 110 nonprofit partner organizations that provide effective services to help individuals and families facing complex challenges to live healthy and stable lives, as well as to organizations that support the arts, culture, education and the environment.
