Bucks Choral Society accepting applications for Voices of the Future

Posted

Bucks County Choral Society is now accepting applications for its 7th annual Voices of the Future Solo Voice Competition, offering $2,500 in cash prizes.

This is a classical singing competition open to students in grades 9-12 who live or attend school in Bucks County.

Four finalists will be invited to perform in a master class led by Paul Spencer Adkins, a winner of the Luciano Pavarotti International Voice competition and the Philadelphia and Princeton Metropolitan opera auditions. Adkins has enjoyed an extensive career in opera and teaching, and his students have starred on opera and Broadway stages. He currently teaches at University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

Winners may also be invited to perform at a future BCCS concert.

Applicants must submit links to video or audio recordings of two contrasting songs or arias. At least one of the two selections must be a classical art song or aria; alternately, the second selection can be a musical theater song.

Finalists will be invited to perform in a live master class on March 30 at the James-Lorah Memorial Home, 132 N. Main St., Doylestown, led by Paul Spencer Adkins. At the conclusion of the master class, $1,000 will be awarded for first place and $500 will be awarded to each runner-up.

The deadline for submissions is March 8, and finalists will be announced on March 16. For the application and additional information, visit www.buckschoral.org/voices-of-the-future.
