Buckingham Friends celebrates ground breaking

Posted

Buckingham Friends School celebrated the groundbreaking of a multi-million expansion project on its 44-acre campus in Lahaska Sept. 30.

The project includes a new science building – constructed in the woods adjacent to the main building – and replacement of the existing gym, a “connector” between the gym and arts building, a bus canopy and renovations to middle and upper school classrooms.

Centerbrook is the architecture firm leading the project.

The ceremony, attended by students, faculty, parents, BFS alumni and alumni parents, featured remarks by Paul Lindenmaier, head of school; Michael Godshall, clerk of the board of trustees for BFS and an alumni parent; Bethan Morgan, Class of 1977 and clerk of Buckingham Friends Meeting; Maggie Rash, Buckingham Township supervisor and alumni parent; faculty member Steve Bernardini and two student speakers. In addition, BFS students sang and performed on the ukulele under the direction of music teacher Richard Cox.
