Betty Ann Tucker

Betty Ann Tucker (77) of Doylestown, PA passed away on Wednesday February 1, 2024, after a battle with bone cancer. Born in 1946 into a Mennonite household she was the daughter of the late Samuel H. and Ruth (Bergey) Detweiler.

Betty was a graduate of Christopher Dock High School. Her Mennonite values inspired Betty to pursue a career in nursing where she could help others every day. She received her nursing degree at the Upper Bucks Institute of Technology in 1967. After graduating she worked as a nurse in the Emergency Room at Doylestown Hospital for 39 years.

Even in her spare time Betty found ways to help others, volunteering her time at events including Doylestown Hospital’s Free Clinic and Teddy Bear clinic. Whenever she volunteered, she would always encourage her family and friends to come work alongside her to give back to the community & support others.

Betty is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles Leroy Tucker. Their relationship was defined by their wedding vow of “in sickness and in health”. They remained by each other’s side throughout their lives together. In their early years, they enjoyed skiing, both on water and snow, snowmobiling, and entertaining friends. As life progressed, they continued to enjoy cooking for their friends, going to the beach, camping trips along the East Coast, and taking trips to visit Leroy’s family in Georgia.

Along with her husband, Betty is survived by her one son Jason Tucker (Kim) of Sellersville, PA and their two children Declan and Oliver. She is also survived by her siblings Robert, Samuel (Cindy), James (Joan) Detweiler, and her brother-in-law Preston (Christine) Tucker. In addition to her immediate family if you knew Betty you knew she considered you family too. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, numerous friends, and cherished work colleagues. She was proceeded in death by sisters Esther, Elaine and brothers Paul, David, Merrell and Dale.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, at Living Hope Community Church at 311 W. State Street in Doylestown, PA 18901. Guests are welcome at 10:30, service will begin at 11:30.
