Bensalem High School senior Joshua Rivadeneira and juniors Marnaath Nyak and Sophia Shipp have earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Programs.
The National Recognition Programs grant underrepresented students with academic honors that can be included on college and scholarship applications and connect students with universities across the country, helping them stand out during the admissions process. Colleges and scholarship programs identify students awarded National African American, Hispanic, Indigenous and/or Rural/Small Town Recognition through College Board’s Student Search Service.
Eligible students have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have excelled on the PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10, or earned a score of 3 or higher on two or more AP Exams; and are African American or Black, Hispanic American or Latinx, Indigenous, and/or attend school in a rural area or small town.
Rivadeneira has been an honor roll student throughout high school. He also qualified and attended the DECA State Competition. Rivadeneira is a member of Community Service Club, DECA, Mathletes, and Blue Crew. Out of school, he enjoys working out at the gym and eating authentic Latino cuisine. Rivadeneira plans to major in Engineering, hopefully in the Aerospace and Aeronautical field.
Marnaath has been an honor roll student throughout high school. She is a member of National Honor Society, Athletes Helping Athletes, Future Business Leaders of America, DECA, Track and Field, Community Service Club, Blue Crew, Christian Fellowship, Reading Olympics, and Colors for Coats. Marnaath is also the manager of the girls volleyball team. Her out of school activities include The Youth Advocacy and Shadow Doctors. Marnaath plans to major in psychology and minor in language, then attend medical school for Neurosurgery.
Shipp has been a principal’s list honor roll student throughout high school. She is a member of National Honor Society, Community Service Club, tennis team, and orchestra. Out of school, her hobbies include drawing and reading. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Shipp’s future plans include majoring in engineering with a minor in business.
