Artist Gail Bracegirdle remembered in featured exhibit

Posted

In memory of Gail Bracegirdle, “A Creative Journey,” a special featured gallery exhibit with Carol Sanzalone, will be showcased for June 8 – July 2 at the Artists’ Gallery, 18 Bridge St., Lambertville, N.J. Bracegirdle died April 24.

There will be an opening reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 10.

Inspired by images in nature, and the exciting patterns of life, this unique exhibit highlights a variety of creative techniques by two talented watercolor artists.

Bracegirdle’s paintings express the “environmentally sensitive nature of the medium,” as she presents images with color and texture in watercolor. The variations she creates allow for the capture of the visual characteristics of each image, and share her interest in the subject.

“Gail B” ... as she signed her work ... studied textile design at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia and she enjoyed a career in that field for many years. In addition to painting, Bracegirdle taught at Artworks in Trenton, summer workshops in Ocean City, N.J., plein air workshops in South Carolina and New Mexico, and children’s summer camps at Silver Lake Nature Center as a member of The Artists of Bristol.

A longtime member at Artists’ Gallery, and resident of Bucks County, she was represented by additional galleries in Washington Crossing and Bordentown, N.J. A signature member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Society, her award-winning work has been exhibited in group and solo shows throughout the region and is included in private collections in the United States, Europe, and Australia.

Sanzalone will also show her watercolor and acrylic works in this exhibit. A longtime gallery member, art teacher and graphic designer, her paintings “visually express” the light, shadow and color patterns that enrich images, both realistically and abstractly, to express her impression of a subject. She is always drawing on those experiences on her Creative Journey.

The gallery is open Thursday through Sunday, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Visit the Lambertville Arts website.
