Art in the Parks kicks off at AOY

Posted

AOY Art Center, in collaboration with the Lower Makefield Parks and Recreation Department and the Seward Johnson Atelier, launched the premiere season of “Art in the Parks” with a sunset opening reception Saturday, at AOY Art Center in Lower Makefield.

The event served as the official kickoff of the arrival of eight Seward Johnson sculptures to the Lower Makefield community. Park Director Monica Tierney explained the Art in the Parks Initiative, and U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, (R-1) and state Rep. Perry Warren (D-31) spoke of the value of art in the public space.

“Art in the Parks” is thanks to a $7,500 grant from Visit Bucks County (VBC), contributions from Lower Makefield Township and AOY Art Center. The sculptures will be on loan from the Seward Johnson Atelier (Grounds for Sculpture) for six months.
