Stover Mill Gallery to present “Natural Fusion: Photography & Watercolor In Harmony”

The Tinicum Civic Association continues its Stover Mill Gallery 64th season with an exhibition from local photographer Andy Holtzman, who also writes news articles for the Bucks County Herald, and watercolorist Sharon Pitts of Montclair, N.J.

They will present a joint show over the month of May titled, “Natural Fusion: Photography & Watercolor in Harmony.” An opening reception is planned for 1-5 p.m. Sunday, May 5. The gallery is located at 852 River Road (Route 32), Erwinna.

The dual exhibit will feature a variety of Holtzman’s “photographic subject matters,” printed on fine art paper along with works applied to more atypical surfaces, including metal, acrylic, canvas, and wood.

Pitts has been exploring with watercolor for 40 years, concentrating on large, lush canvases. “Each painting feels like an adventure of discovering the mysterious ways of watercolor. In some ways, I follow the paint rather than lead it around on the paper,” she said.

Born in Chicago, Ill., Pitts holds a B.A. in Plastic and Graphic Arts from the University of Illinois-Chicago.

Holtzman has a home in Upper Black Eddy. As a former marketing executive for The Discovery Channel, extensive global travel helped encourage his love of photography. “I now consider the planet my photographic canvas, observing landscapes and cultures for the first time through the lens,” he said.

Born in New York City, Holtzman holds a BFA in Film & Television from New York University.

A preview of some of the artists’ works in the upcoming exhibit and beyond can be found on the artist’s websites, www.andiamphoto.net and Sharonpitts.com.

The handicapped-accessible gallery can be reached at 610-294-9420. The exhibit is free and will be open with the artists in attendance every Saturday and Sunday in May from 1-5 p.m.
