The Poet's Corner

Behind Our Eyes

Posted

We see the pain, we sense the fear

We take it in, we hold it near.

We want to help, we want to cry

We turn away, we only sigh.

We see the wisdom, we see the lies

We see the truth, we compromise

We never really understand, we

Hide the scars behind our eyes.

John Camillo is retired and living in Langhorne Manor. A widower, Camillo worked for 40 years as a maintenance mechanic and supervisor. He records music, reads, plays golf and says he has “a small circle of family and friends that look after me.”

Poet’s Corner is curated by Bucks County Poet Laureate Emeritus Tom Mallouk and supported by a grant to the Bucks County Herald Foundation made possible by Marv and Dee Ann Woodall.

Thanks to donations and the support of the Woodalls, Poet’s Corner is back for another year. To submit a poem for consideration, email it to Heraldpoetscorner@gmail.com. If the poem has been previously published, please say where it first appeared.
