5K walk, run participants spread sunshine in Newtown

Posted

The Sunshine Foundation hosted its 20th annual RunWalkBark4Dreams 5K fun run in-person this year.

The family-friendly event was held at Tyler State Park in Newtown.

The children benefiting from the event are: Amaya, diagnosed with Septo-optic dysplasia, who dreams of visiting Cinderella’s castle at Disney; Caleb, with Chiari malformation, epilepsy, and global developmental delays, who dreams of meeting Mickey Mouse at Disney World; Jazmine, who was born with a congenital malformation of the brain, who dreams of visiting the Florida theme parks; and Zach, who has autism, epilepsy, and sensory processing disorder, who dreams of trip to Atlanta to visit the aquarium.

Sunshine Foundation is a wish-granting organization that answers the dreams of children, ages 3 through 18, who have severe or profound physical/developmental/intellectual challenges or trauma from physical/sexual abuse, and whose families cannot fulfill their requests due to financial strain that the child’s illness may cause.
