The Upper Bucks County Technical School chapter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) and Perkasie Rotary Interact Club inducted 23 student members on April 23.
State Rep. Craig Staats was the keynote speaker for the evening and was also inducted into the National Technical Honor Society as an honorary member. Staats is a longtime supporter of UBCTS and was recently named majority chairman of the Career and Technical Education Subcommittee of the House Education Committee.
Current NTHS member Amber Sims highlighted the impact and importance of CTE in the community. She was joined by fellow NTHS student Austin Stoudt who provided an overview of the history and mission of the National Technical Honor Society. The mission of the NTHS is to honor student achievement and leadership, promote educational excellence, award scholarships and enhance career opportunities.
During the ceremony, each member pledged to maintain the highest standard of personal conduct, continue a record of academic achievement, and invest their talents, skills, and knowledge in a career that representative Staats referenced as essential to the economic development of the Commonwealth.
Paul Lorenz provided an overview of the importance of community service and welcomed the students as official members of the Perkasie Rotary Interact Club.
