Town and Country Players stage “Twelve Angry Jurors” at park

Posted

On the weekend of June 19 and 20, grab your lawn chairs or blankets and head over to Hansell Park in Buckingham Township to enjoy what director Andy McPhee calls “one of the finest dramas ever written,” “12 Angry Jurors.”

“12 Angry Jurors” tells the story of 12 jurors who must decide the fate of a 19-year-old man accused of murdering his father. The jury votes 11-1 that the man is guilty of the crime, but laws in the United States require a unanimous vote by all 12 jurors to pass judgment. The play brings the audience into the courtroom to watch the emotional and challenging deliberations in this high-stakes trial.

McPhee explains that the jurors represent a microcosm of society and while the play was originally produced in the 1950s, the jurors grapple with many of the same kinds of issues society continues to face today.

Admission to the “Theater in the Park” series is free, but donations will be accepted either at the show or through the web page townandcountryplayers.org/donate.html.

There will be three performances of “12 Angry Jurors”: 1 and 5 p.m. Saturday, June 19 and 1 p.m. Sunday, June 20. The Hansell Park amphitheater is located at 5069-5165 Hansell Road, Doylestown. Rain dates are July 10 and 11. For information, or to sign up for communication about the show visit townandcountryplayers.org.
