The Art of the River Towns Artist of the Week: Connie Dierks

Posted

This week we are featuring a participating artist from the Art of the River Towns Juried Show.

Art of the River Towns, presented by River Towns Magazine, was held Oct. 1 to 4, at Prallsville Mills in Stockton, N.J.

Connie Dierks of Yardley has been a resident of Bucks County for 30 years. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from the University of Virginia in 1974.

Since retiring from a career as a graphic designer for a medical communications company in 2012, she has had time to paint and get to know many other artists in the local art community. Dierks began showing in local and juried shows in 2014.

“Her works in oil and watercolor show her fascination with color, reflection, light and shadow,” Dierks said in her artist statement. “Trying new media like cold wax and oil, gouache, and pastel, Connie is constantly learning new ways to express the beauty we all find in nature.

“Working primarily as a landscape painter, Connie also has a love of the figure, portraiture, and abstraction.”

Dierks is a member of Artists of Yardley, Artsbridge, New Hope Art League, Garden State Watercolor Society, and Willingboro Art Alliance.

Work by Dierks and over 100 other local artists can be found and purchased on the Art of the River Towns Online Sales Gallery through Dec. 31. The online gallery features over 400 unique works by local artists. For information, visit Rivertownsmagazine.com.
