Rural Voices USA mounts billboard campaign to vaccinate rural residents

Posted

Rural Voices USA, the national nonprofit working to bridge the rural-urban divide and ensure rural voices are being heard on key policy issues, today announced the beginning of a billboard campaign to help rural communities close the COVID vaccination gap.

According to the most recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) figures, rural counties lag behind urban counties in vaccine coverage by nearly seven percent. Rural communities have been hit hard and continue to be at risk because of lack of access to health care, higher rates of uninsured individuals, and higher instances of underlying conditions.

The billboard campaign launched by Rural Voices USA is designed to reiterate to rural residents that getting the vaccine is part of the rural commitment to supporting neighbors and community members.

The first billboard is up in Sidney, Ohio, the county seat of Shelby County, Ohio. The billboard reads, “In rural America we take care of our own. Get the Vaccine.” Rural Voices USA will be putting up additional billboards in rural communities and fund raising to expand the effort across the nation.
