Phillips’ Mill invites artists to create signature image

Posted

Phillips’ Mill is ready for its close-up and would like to invite artists to portray it.

“Artists make an important contribution to our community. They show us things we might overlook. They sharpen our vision with their visions,” said Laura Womack, chair of the 92nd annual Phillips’ Mill Art Show, which will take place in autumn 2021.

“Our committee wants to secure a signature image of the mill that we can use on posters, ads, postcards, social media, and the website. So we’d like to invite artists within 25 miles of the mill to submit a painting, drawing, handmade print, or collage of the mill for consideration by our committee. The winning artwork will be featured at this year’s art show, and in the past, the featured image has often sold. So it’s a good opportunity for artists to build their visibility to collectors.”

Other benefits for the artist chosen to represent the 92-year-old show started by the New Hope Impressionist painters will include a $400 honorarium, promotion of the artwork in local media and widely in social media. Sometimes the artist is even profiled in local media.

“We need an artist to help us portray the mill as the iconic location for Bucks County’s prestigious and longest-running juried art show — something traditional, but also something fresh. Use your creativity!” said Womack. Artists who would like to learn more should look for details at phillipsmill.org.
