Newtown cafe owner releases picture book about protective masks

Posted

Zebra-Striped Whale Ice Cream café owner Shari Faden Donahue has written and illustrated “A Mask ... You Ask?” a new picture book about protective face masks.

Faden Donahue is a book author/illustrator and publisher who made a splash with her original Zebra-Striped Whale character in four of her 10 published titles including: “The Zebra-Striped Whale with the Polka-Dot Tail” (2001), “Zebra-Striped Whale Alphabet Book” (2012 and “Zebra-Striped Whale Polka-Dot Power (2018).”

This character also inspired the opening of the Zebra-Striped Whale Ice Cream Café located at 12 S. State St. in historic Newtown 17 years ago.

Donahue and her husband, Tom, co-illustrators of the new picture book, have resided in New Hope, for over 25 years.

Donahue also founded Arimax Books Publishing in 1992, and consults with writers and illustrators who wish to publish their own children’s picture books.

Her book, “Children’s Picture Books: How to Self-Publish Your Way to Success,” (2008) was the recipient of the Ben Franklin Silver Award.

“A Mask … You Ask?” may be purchased at Zebra-Striped Whale Ice Cream Cafe, local book stores, and Amazon. Personalized, autographed copies are available by the author upon request.
